Is it just me or is anyone else sick and tired of getting beat like dogs in the feature department when it comes to plugin development for MT as compared to WP. I have a lot riding on my MT install but If I continue to see more of this I am going to have to reconsider my options.
http://www.myelin.co.nz/post/2005/12/11/#200512111 Whats sad is a supposed MT consultant helped with the development and if that isnt a kick right between the legs nothing is. |

My apologies - that post totally wasn't clear about what Chad was doing.
In fact we have been developing an MT plugin in parallel to the WP one - that's why we needed an MT consultant! We just had some controversy over the "forking" thing, which is why I wrote that post - to clarify the Wordpress situation. The MT plugin is totally non-controversial though, so I'm afraid it doesn't get its own post - yet :-) The plugins will be announced on Tuesday at the Syndicate conference in San Francisco. The MT one is still pretty unstable, but it does exist, and you'll be able to download it on Tuesday. It's pretty cool: it lets you publish reviews, events, lists, showcases and media, and also define your own types microcontent types (by writing XML files that contain editing and display templates). The same XML files will work with both Movable Type and Wordpress. |

QUOTE (GeekNews @ Dec 12 2005, 04:29 AM) I have a lot riding on my MT install but If I continue to see more of this I am going to have to reconsider my options. So, there's an MT plugin on the way for the feature you want, and it's possible for MT plugins to be this advanced *without* a dev having to worry they're forking the code. That seems like good news to me -- is there something else that's frustrating you? What plugins do you want that you don't have? |

While this is still the top post in the list, I should link to the code so interested parties can take a look. If you want to try it out, go to http://structuredblogging.org/ and hit one of the Movable Type links in the top right-hand corner. We're still fixing bugs, so if you encounter something that doesn't look right, drop me a line via http://www.myelin.co.nz/phil/email.php and I'll make sure it gets heard. (The same goes for UI suggestions, feed problems, etc...) |

Hmmm this looks interesting and could be useful for a couple of content areas I'm trying to (re)organize atm.
