Full Version: Excluding a Category from Individual Entry Archive

I have and would like to keep individual entry archiving turned on; however, I would like my photos to be excluded from this. I have them assigned to a specific category "Photos" and have them excluded from the content of the Main Index as well as from all lists (except for my specific "Photos" list). I upload my images from within "movable type", choosing the pop-up image option which, of course, generates an html file showing my image (with a caption)

So...

1. would it be possible to exclude image uploads from Individual Entry Archive? or if not possible

2. would there be any ill effect to simply deleting those archives?

When I upload my images I make the excerpt text a link to the pop-up image and this is what my "Photos" list references. I have renamed a couple of the archive files and have noticed no problems.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

This doesn't answer your specific questions, but you might get some ideas from this thread on supressing archiving based on category.

If you're not linking to the Individual archive pages for any of your photo entries (such as in the next/previous links), then you can delete away. smile.gif

Thanks so much that was a great help!!

I did get it to work the way I wanted; however, as you mentioned there are links in my "previous|next" menu. I've been trying to figure out how to skip over those entries and go to the next non-"Photos" entry, but I'm not sure what to do next. I've tried searching the forum, and have found a few things that come close, but not they're not quite what I need. I have been toying with Scriptygoddess' solution for containing the "previous|next" menu to a specific category, but what I would like is to be able exclude a specific category. I've tried the Compare plugin (which, when it reaches an entry from the excluded category, stops the cycling entirely, making it appear as if there are no more entries) and the Exclude Categories (MTEntriesExCat) plugin (which seems to have no effect at all). Any help that you could provide would be appreciated. Thanks again.
