Trying to import 5mb into new 3.0 fails to import comments. It will import all entries but will not import any comments. There is no failure message or any indication that the import failed. It will create users/categories just fine. I can not get the comments to import.....

Any suggestions or help would be great.

A link to the import .txt file on your server would probably help - otherwise, we don't really have a lot to go on. wink.gif

I am trying to import, and it looks to work, but not all the data is put into the right place. It worked for the first blog, but the second one it didn't work on. I am left with a comment message that looks like:

That which does not kill us makes us stranger.

Where all above the "That which does not kill us makes us stranger." line should have gone into appropriate places. http://www.geekblog.net/MT3/import/import.txt is the file, and it looks properly generated form the 2.661 install it's being moved from. Thoughts, advice? I have tried to delete all posts and re import 2 times now, all to the same result.

Hmm. I just imported the first seven entries in the file, and it seemed to work okay. sad.gif

It's a sign of mediocrity when you demonstrate gratitude with moderation.

The way I see it is this. You do not build a house by stacking tables or even boxes one on the other, at least not a good one, and you do not try to do a comparison chart with CSS. CSS is Cascading Style Sheets, so use it for that purpose, hell even use it to layout the page. Tables are no longer practical for either of those tasks. They are good for charts, and that is all, so using them for anything else shows an ignorance towards advancement.

Note that there is a space and a blank line right after those first couple of author names, which might be the problem. wink.gif

I'd strip those comments out of the txt file anyhow, since they're just spam.

Thanks, worked like a charm, I just updated MTB from the master and ran a spam, all spam was gone, and the export file was clean.

What did you do to clean your comments file of spam? I have a huge (2000) entry Berkeley install which I'm moving over for someone, and there's a lot of spam I want to get rid of.

Also, I take it blank lines in the import file are bad?
