Full Version: Importing MT 2.6 archives to MT 3.15

I'm sure this is simple, but I just can't find the answer to it anywhere.

I've upgraded to 3.15. I saved the original archives to my computer. I didn't export them into one .txt file, though.

I've uploaded the archives into a folder called /import/, but when I try to finish the upload via the MT interface, I get this error message:

"Can't open directory './import': No such file or directory"

Any suggestions?

Thanks so much.

Where did you create the /import/ directory? It should be in the same location as your mt.cgi file. smile.gif

I'm attempting to do the same thing. I opted to backup all my data and do a fresh install of MT 3.15. Now I'd like to import my old files. I tried to import the individual entry archives, but to no avail (my import folder is in the same location as mt.cgi). Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

are you importing the MT export file, or are you trying to import the individual entry archive files (the HTMl files)?

MT can't import the individual entry archive files. it will only import a file in the MT import format.
if you have a backup of the database, then configure your new installation to use that. if all you have is are individual entry archives and didn't make a backup of the database, then about the only thing you can do is try the script here

I do have my db file, but here's something to complicate the mix:

I recently changed my DNS. I configured mt.cfg to reflect the changes and using the same db file (but since I changed site names, I edited the path to: /home/newsitename/www/cgi-bin/db).

Now, when I try to log in, I get an error that says, "Got an error: Your DataSource directory ('/home/myoldsitename/www/cgi-bin/db') does not exist."

Is there a file in db that still thinks it's on my old site's name? If so, how can I correct this?

Thanks for all your help!
