I have a page that lists links to the individual pages for all of my posts since 1997.
I'd like to figure out someway that I could tell MTArchiveList to list links to entries based on the year they were posted.
Then, for example, I could have a separate list on a year-by-year basis. Any ideas?

I think that with some playing the Archive Date Header plugin could do what you want for a page listing all of your archives but separated out by date.

I played some with categories, but it's cumbersome because I already have categories in my posts. And adding a secondary category to 600 something posts and then going into a separate screen for every new post to add that secondary category? Ugh.

Do you want one page per year, listing the individual links for posts made in that year?

Yup. So, the 1999 (for example) archive index would be
01/01/1999 - Happy New Year!
02/14/1999 - VD Day
03/17/1999 - I'm Green with the Irish
The 1999 archive index would only list links to entries from 1999 with (for example) the title linked to the individual entry itself.

Hmmm. There's definitely not a predefined archive template to work with this. If we had yearly archives as an option, you could use the date-based archive template, but we don't.
I think you'd need to use new Index Templates and create each year. But I'm not positive how to filter out just that year. With php, I could do it, but with just MT tags, I'm not so sure. Maybe Girlie has another idea
