Does anyone know how to use MT to generate thumbnails without uploading the files: I already used FTP to get my pics in the appropriate archived folder but I would like to generate thumbnails without redownloading everyone through the "UPLOAD FILE" - create new entry, generate thumbnail thing.  Does anyone know an easy way to just make the thumbnails so I can then just insert the code into my entry?

You could just use a graphics program to resize the images, save them as a new name, and then upload them smile.gif

Image Resizer is one of the many Windows XP Power Toys available for Free.  When you install it all you have to do is right click the photo and choose resize to resize your photo to whatever you need.  It makes a copy of the picture so It doesn't destroy the original. Very Handy IMHO and its free!!!

If you don't have XP ACDSee and several other viewers are capable of resizing and even transforming photos on the fly.  So you don't have to invest in expensive programs (Photoshop, et al) to accomplish simple resizing.

Hope I helped you with a resource at any rate.

Note:Off topic, but I highly recommend getting the Power Toys as they add a lot of functionality to your OS, especially the ubiquitous TweakUI.  They are available for any OS from windows 95 forward (not all the same Toys).

Thanks for the advice smile.gif   But is there no way to do it from within the MT interface if I simply forgot to tick off that checkbox that says generate thumbnail but uploaded the file via MT?

Not that I've heard of.  It works with files on your computer, not files already on your server.

If you are wishing you didn't have to type the HTML in each entry for the image and popup etc, if you upload one, then you can get the basic code, and then just copy and paste, and change the filename.

Oh, and I'd highly recommend Paint Shop Pro for beginning graphic needs.  Its an excellent program, and can do almost as many things as Photoshop can! smile.gif
