Ok so I am a doofus. Do you manually type the links in for the side bars in the control panel, open the page in note pad, or is there something I don't know. Sorry I  am such a moron.

you want to edit the template where it says

The template will be used to generate your page, so you don't have to edit the generated page in notepad.
