Full Version: Adding the comments feature to normal webpages?

I'm curious about adding comments to some of my normal webpages not dynamically created through MT, notably the About Me page and a host of other work, such as my fiction or poetry. I want the user to have the option of leaving comments on these static webpages that I create. I do not need these pages searchable, archivable, or anything else, though, I wouldn't mind if I could include the trackback feature or *perhaps* the category feature, especially for my fiction/poetry.

I would NOT want to throw in any of these webpages into my blog and link to it just for the comment feature. I feel that this would mess up my blog and confuse my readers.

I was wondering if there was some code I could take from MT and add to those static pages? Or do these pages need to somehow be brought into MT? Perhaps as templates? Or do I need to setup a new general utility type blog and have these static pages be my "entries" and then use server side includes to link to that "entry"?

Again, I mostly just want people to be able to leave comments on my static, non-blog pages, though I wouldn't mind having a trackback feature.

Any ideas? Help?

Alanna, I did this by creating separate blogs.  I created one news Blog that updates the stuff that gets updated everyday.  And I created one "static" blog, where I put in all the "about" pages as the entries, with the file names as the entry titles.

See hwil.org.  Most of the entries off the left-hand menu are part of the main blog, while the news and calendar are both separate.

And since this blog is static, I almost never have to update it.

Since I don't know php, this was my solution.  Hope it helps.

You can read more about something similar to what pielmorena described on Girlie's Guestbook with MT.

Hope that helps,
Kristine
