im surprised that there isnt more about this...

i would like to add mood icons to my mt posts- like the 'current mood' option on livejournal (http://www.livejournal.com/users/nikkibladesgirl).

i looked at some other posts on this board and found a tutorial here. i followed that, except...

when i edited the entry_edit.tmpl file, it ended up screwing up the entire 'new entry' page- i didnt get a text box, and everything on the page moved over to the left.

i understand that the tutorial is for mt v. 2.21, and im running the latest version of mt. so maybe theres a problem there?

does anyone know how to do this correctly, or knows a diff way, or... anything?

thank you in advance smile.gif

i don't really mess with the .tmpl file, so i can't help ya there, but have you looked at imood.com? there's a little code you could just pop into your template. seems easier than editing the file and getting it all messed up.  smile.gif

maybe firstly you need to replace your tmpl file. just extrect it from the MT installation file and replace the modified one. then post a link to where you found the instructions for what you were trying to do. someone will find a way of making it work for MT2.51

I have been doing this on my blog (http://scottmeinzer.com/blog/) and i wrote up my own little tutorial about how to do it. found here: http://scottmeinzer.com/blog/archives/2002...1/154/index.php

The main thing i can say is to install the extra fields hack first and then hack off my part of it. It seams rather confusing but should make sense. You can e-mail me if you have any questions. Oh and you need to be using the MySQL db for mt for this to work....

joi, in the comments of the tutorial you linked to, Adam Rice explained something he had to do differently with 2.51. Maybe that will help you out.

Or, of course, use the hack Scott posted instead.  :)
