Hey guys,
I've just had Movable Type installed for me but I have to configure it myself and I'm not sure what I'm doing.
I've made a file that I want the blog to update to which is called home.html, how do I get it to blog to that, rather than the index.html that came with the program? It currently says that my index file is located at:
/home/restless/public_html/MT-2.51
which is where the index.html file that came with the program is, but my home.html file is located at:
/home/restless/public_html/
So do I have to change the path where my main index file will be, which I want to be the home.html file?

In the blog config, change the main index path to /home/restless/public_html/ and then on the template editing page, click on the Main Index Template and change it's output filename to be home.html. Then your blog will appear at /home/restless/public_html/home.html (if you haven't already, you need to put the permissions of /home/restless/public_html/ to 777.)
If your current home.html contains your design or anything important that you want to keep, you should make sure you have a copy of it before you rebuild your blog, because MT will overwrite the one that is already there.
Thanks for the help!

I kinda need more help tho guys! I don't know how to set up the templates so that it looks the way I've designed my current layout. All I want is the blog entry, the date and comments, I don't want all the rest of it. I'm not sure what I can delete and what I can't. Can I delete all the metatags and all that on the default template and put my own?
you can start with a blank template if you want.
insert the general look of your page in the template... then keep on insertting mt tags where you want them with formating and all.
Thanks Faf, I'll give it a try!
