Full Version: A Better Form for PDA Entries

I used Meryl's guide to figure out how to write and publish entries from my PDA to my site(PDA Posting to MT), but the form that shows up in my AvantGo window is pitifully small. It seems that MT generates a page on your PDA that exactly mimics the browser window, when it would make more sense to have the drop boxes and other elements shifted to the left so that it's easier to find everything (as it is right now you need to do a lot of scrolling to the right to find some buttons).

I figured out how to change the HTML around so that the page AvantGo goes to is more user-friendly, but how would I load this page up to my site and how do I tell AvantGo where to search for it?

create a custom channel in Avantgo pointing to the pda page (ie mine points to pda.php), and post the link generated on your page.

When people click on it, the custom channel will be subscribed to via Avantgo.  Mobile IE users and those using other browsers for PDAs can just link direct to the pda page.

You could even use some type of script or Apache redirect so that users using specific PDA browsers would automatically be re-directed to the proper page.

To clarify: I'm not having any problems with either publishing to the site using my PDA or with downloading entries to the custom channel I created. I simply want to modify the layout of the edit entry form that is downloaded from AvantGo to my PDA. I already know exactly how I would change the HTML; I'm just hoping someone can tell me how exactly to upload that modified-edit entry page to my site.

I set this up on my Palm, and it posts to movabletype but doesn't do a rebuild, so they don't appear on my blog. I'm selecting Publish. Any ideas?

I've got similar problems. I make an entry, post, sync, but it doesn't appear on the blog. So to rebuild I *still* have to log in to the net, to my site, rebuild the index... really that defeats the purpose.

I do not have a java enabled palm device, so all those little programs (Azure, Handx, avantblog) that people are talking about won't work for me. So far the Avantgo is the only thing that's looked hopeful because it is offline and seems to run at palm sync.

So...

1) How does one change the entry page for avantgo to have more then five characters across?

2) How can we get the entries made in avantgo to prompt a rebuild of the index?

3) Or any other alternatives for offline posting via pda would be good too.

I set this up as per Meryl's instructions and am having the same problem. Posting works perfectly but I need to resave the entry in MT before the post is displayed on the frontpage. Has anyone solved this?

Incidentally I also modified the avantgo Location code to include the Convert Line Breaks field as the text was running together without it.

Modified code is:
