My host just added the option of Cpanel accounts. As I'd save a dollar a month if I switched, it's a no-brainer, but I'm concerned over the task of moving MT. Do those who use Cpanel like it? As for moving I guess it would just be a matter of downloading my MySQL db, installing MT on the other server, and then uploading the db? How difficult is it to export/import a MySQL db (using phpMyAdmin)?

I like it very much. quite useful.
exporting/importing using phpMyAdmin is very easy.

Is this host AffordableHost.com? 'cause I've been wondering the same thing.

Yes, AffordableHost.com. They recently put up some nice
Flash tutorials about working under Cpanel. I was rather concerned about moving the MT database (I searched this board and found some instructions but I think they must be using a different phpMyAdmin version than AH) but the tutorial helps a lot.

CPanel has a bunch of
features that make handling your hosting account really easy. Everything at your finger tips.

Nice. My only problems with these systems, is I've found that many ISP that use these are unable (unwilling) to upgrade individual parts of their site until a new version of the control panel comes out. For instance.. One of my sites (nolagay.com) is being hosted with an ISP that uses a control panel system that uses PHP 4.0.1.. the trouble is, the software that I use to run a calendar requires php 4.1 or higher. My ISP will not be upgrading to the new panel (with a newer PHP version) until March. I'm basically screwed until then. This is the third ISP I've run into that has given me similar problems.
Hmmmm.

I have a couple of MT blogs at HostingMatters, which uses Cpanel. I don't remember interacting with PHP or PHPAdmin at all to get things set up (mySQL was already installed). The most I had to do was fill out a one page form to create the DB (with data such as login name, password, etc.). As for moving the DB to copy your blog content, why not just export and import via MT? I've tried that and it seemed to be easy and fast.

The main problem I see with using MT's export/import feature is that entries might get a different ID# in MT. Sometimes I link to my old posts inside an entry and those links would now be messed up. Also, I don't think the export tool includes Trackback pings (not that I have many of those to worry about).
Thanks for all the comments on Cpanel.

It does if you are using MT2.51 - otherwise, no, it won't. Well, it will if you are using MT2.5, but there is a bug with it.
