Hi!
I'm encorporating MT into a website right now which has a mix of static and blog-like pages. I'm wanting to know if it's possible to have the static (template) pages display one particular entry as their content -- is there some MT code to do this?
Or, do I need to create a "category" for each static page, and then use the code to display "all" (even though there'll only be one) the entries for this category?
The reason why I want the static pages to include blog entries is so that the MT search feature will work for these pages too.
Any help greatly appreciated,
Rachel

You could create a blog for each of these static pages. I don't know how many static pages you are talking about, so I'm not sure if that is reasonable or not, but it will definitely work.

i'm not sure if i'm understanding you here.... but why don't you just import the static pages as .mt files?

The static pages will likely have only one entry in them, so setting them up as blogs is overkill...
I was just hoping to have the page's content in a post, and then be able to put in the template some MT code that will pull in only that particular entry?

Hmm, maybe I wasn't too clear on what I'm looking for.
Is there some MT code that says "display the blog post #xyz on this page"?
I have a site which has a front page which is a blog, and then some (10) pages like "about us" etc which are pretty much static content. They would like to be able to have the MT search both the front page (blog) *and* the other pages at the same time.
So... I thought if the content of those pages were each a blog entry, then the search would work fine. Just don't know how to tell MT to display that entry on those pages.

In order for mt to display and entry it has to be done through the MT system, so you will have to create a template for them.
Theeasiest thing to do is to tur on Individual Archives. That creates a page for every wntry in the system. The you can just hardlink that Individual Entry Archive page.
Otherwise you have to create a template for each static entry and use a plugin to pull a specific entry ID.

Ahh, is there such a plugin? If so, where can I find it?

Glad to help, and Medic -- it helps that I've been eating, sleeping, and breathing plugins lately!! :D
