That error is a very weird one. It *looks* like a broken perl installation. Is there anyone else on this server who is able to use MT successfully? The 'unicode' directory is part of perl; I don't know if the above error is due to a file not being there that should, or whether it is due to a file being corrupted, etc. What version of Perl is this? 5.6.1? 5.6.0?

Just thought I'd add some sort of an update here smile.gif

It's finally working, after many hours of playing, 17million emails to Ben, my husband digging through the code, and another chance at completely downloading and uploading and db_upgrading the files!

I had added a smilies hack this a few weeks back to make smilies appear in the posts when I typed them, and apparently, they were conflicting with something on this host that wasn't a problem with the old host - something to do with somehow they weren't properly escaping... I'll be looking into seeing how I can make it work again smile.gif

Sooooo, I was able to use what the MT documentation said to capture my files and now I *think* that part of my site is working!  Woo hoo!

My whole site has been down since sometime in the middle of the night thursday, and so now I'm moving into a new host.  I used a backup file that I had downloaded on thursday (.tar.gz) and had it unzipped by my new host.  Everything appears to be in the correct directories and it automatically chmoded the files when the files were unzipped on the server side.

So now I'm working on getting things back up and running.  I ran the instructions in the documentation, and the db_upgrade command appeared to succeed (no error message, and the files now have a date stamp of today).  So I tried to log into MT and go the following error:
QUOTE
Got an error: Can't find unicode character property definition via main->AAA0001 or AAA0001.pl at unicode/Is/AAA0001.pl line 159 Compilation failed in require at /home/love/public_html/mt/lib/MT/App/CMS.pm line 13. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /home/love/public_html/mt/lib/MT/App/CMS.pm line 13. Compilation failed in require at /home/love/public_html/mt/mt.cgi line 21.

I get this logging in with the IP address, too - just in case the domain hasn't all of the way resolved in all of the places.

I do have a backup of my db directory that I made before running the db_upgrade, so hopefully if I need to try something else, I can reupload the files and try again.

I don't know if I will ever get back into MT on the old server.  Apparently, the hard drive totally died and all of their backups were on the same drive as our data.  Idiots.  SOooo, I'm not sure if exporting my data is an option, so I'm hoping to have a solution with the db folder.

Thanks in advance for any help that anybody can give me!

I wrote you back, Ben - this server is the one hosting BlahBlahBlog and Ain't Too Proud to Blog and The Working Mom, along with all of the other blogs hosted through blogomania.  SOoooo, I know that they are working smile.gif

I tried a second installation of mt on my server, and still got the same error.  mt-check.cgi does run sucessfully, though.  And I'm running Perl 5.6.1

huh.gif I'm stumped!!

Thanks,
Kristine
