It looks like you answered your own question:

The icons and shortcuts only work in Internet Explorer, which I don't want to us unless it is absolutely necessary.

They only work in IE for Windows, so they now only show up in IE for Windows.

You still can use regular html for the options that are on the top of the screen for IE users... Even though it would be nice if this would work on all browsers, those of us using IE are really glad that Ben and Mena didn't wait to release that functionality until they found a cross-browser way to do this!

ermmmm - using MT2.0/IE5.5, placeholders for the images showup, but the images themselves don't render. I've reviewed the HTML and everything checks out, they just don't show.

I'm guessing, from what I read above, this explains why *nothing* appears in Opera 6.01, not even the placeholders - I don't really know what "if (document.selection) {" etc. does.

When editing (or creating a new) message the HTML icons for bold, underline, etc. don't show up, nor do the keyboard shortcuts work.  I have tried it in both Netscape 4.x and 6.x (Mozilla).  The icons and shortcuts only work in Internet Explorer, which I don't want to us unless it is absolutely necessary.   huh.gif

I know Microsoft IE is what's used by most people but shouldn't MT be made so it's able to work with as many browsers as posible.  Just a thought.

We don't use Windows IE ourselves--we are Macintosh people. So, it's not like we are adding this just so we can use it. smile.gif Obviously it would be great if those shortcuts worked on every browser, but the feature that those shortcuts use is available only on Windows IE. As far as I know, the *only browser* that they can work the way they do (select a string of text in a textarea, do something to it in Javascript) can be done in Windows IE.

If the placeholders for the images show up, but the images themselves don't, that would seem to indicate that you either don't have the images uploaded to the proper directory, or that your StaticWebPath setting is wrong (or not set at all). Do other images in the system show up?
