I've never noticed MT cropping posts.  Maybe share a link with us and we can see if there's something else going on?

Thanks,
Kristine

I've seen this as well on blogs that use MT2.  Specifically the following two:

http://www.balanceinmotion.net/blog/

http://moonpuddle.foxfire.net/eclipse/index.html

I use IE6, so mebbe there's a corrolation, mebbe there isn't.  I'll try with Opera and Netscape and see if it makes any difference.

As was mentioned above, when said bug is noticed, there is no scrollbar available, and literally, the entries are CUT off (sometimes mid-line, like i'll only see the top of the next line, but can't scroll down to read any futher).

Ohhh, your actual words aren't getting cropped, the layout is chopping it off.... got it!

This is an IE6 bug.  The only way to truly fix it is to use a different browser, or work on reconfiguring your stylesheets into a table instead of pure css.

I found that by resizing the browser, I could see the scrollbar again, and then use the blog as intended.  But it is an annoying problem of having the latest browser, and I spent the time to report the bug because I'm hoping that the next version of IE6 will be nicer when it plays with css!!!

Hope this helps,
Kristine

Hey, i just upgraded to 2.0 which was super easy, then i posted a long entry and it got cropped. It's only like 16k or so but it got cropped. Also updates go up, with the cropped version but the submit for the adding or editing the article goes in and never gives a response. It's quite anoying and seems like a bug. Is it?

Other than that MT is great, i switched from my own custom blog software to MT a month ago and have been quite happy with it.

I've noticed something like this too. (My posts are longer because, well, I have a lot to say.)

There is no scroll bar, yet I know there is more to the post. If I resize the browser window (making it bigger), the scroll bars return and the rest of the post or posts reappear.

Hmm... did a little bit of followup testing here.  I have been unable to recreate the problem on Opera.

But, with IE6 (possibly earlier versions, I don't have any to test with), if I goto an affected Blog using a more or less default template, here's what I notice:

I can recreate the problem 100% of the time by holding down the Ctrl-Key and clicking "refresh".  If I DON'T hold down Ctrl and hit refresh, everything displays fine.

The cut-off happens EXACTLY where the "Powered by
Movable Type" line ends on the right hand side (again, this appears to be part of the default template).  I checked again on http://www.balanceinmotion.net/blog/ and was unable to reproduce error, but 100% of the time at the following:

My experience with this shows that it is IE6's improper interpretation of the "float" tag that causes this problem.  If you modify your CSS to not use float at all, the problem goes away.  This does limit design options for liquid pages, but seems to work fine in IE.

I was just helping someone set up a new MT blog and I remembered another way to do it:

The default template has the main body of the blog floating to the left of the navigation bar, but it makes more sense (and won't cause the IE problem unless your nav bar is longer/taller than your blog) if you have the nav bar float to the right of the main body.

Obviously, you have to know a little CSS to re-work that, but at least you don't have to use tables.
