As of 1.4 MT requires at least version 0.8 of File::Spec. Follow the MT instructions for installing File::Spec, and that should fix the problem.

okay, so i have this same problem with my installation of MT, once i switched over to version 2...

i did read the instructions on installing file::spec here...

forgive me for sounding dumb, but after reading this i'm still not quite sure how i'd install this. i don't host the site myself; does that mean i'm going to have to talk to my web host about installing this on their server? or is this something i can do myself?  any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

the error message says:

Can't locate object method "splitpath" via package "File::Spec" at /ext/t/t-/bert-bakker.nl/cgi-bin/mt/lib/MT.pm line 209.

what to do?

i have set up several other MT-blogs but never had this problem. is it the version? (1.4)

This is something you can do on your own. In the directory containing mt.cgi, create a new directory called 'extlib' (unless such a directory already exists).

Inside that directory, create a new directory called 'File'.

Download the File::Spec distribution, per the instructions, and unpack it.

Inside the distribution, upload the file 'Spec.pm' to your server into the 'File' directory you just created.

Then upload the directory 'Spec' to your server, also into the 'File' directory.
