i have been having problems rebuilding my blog. when i save an entry, the page stops at "rebuilding.." and does not continue to load. when i try to rebuild the blog, its just stuck at "rebuilding index templates.." and never moves on. HELP!!!

I've got exactly the same problem. Today I was posting at 2AM and it went all perfectly. Then I got back from school at 5PM and I was unable to rebuild. Misteriously, posts appear in the index, but there's no individual archive entry for them, so I can't read them completely. Some of them even don't have archive link in the index!

There isn't a cache problem, I'm sure. I installed it two days ago so I won't mind reinstalling it... but I don't want to.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

You might check with your host and see if the server space is getting low. That could cause it to not create all the pages...

I'm having this exact problem, too. I installed MT 2.63 a few days ago and have been playing around with the css but ultimately decided just to use the provided templates until I could spend more time with it. I posted 3 test posts last night which were fine but then this morning, I posted and when I rebuilt, it hung. I haven't been able to get it to work at all, though when you look in the 'edit posts', it says the posts are there and published.

I checked with my host and they said server space is fine.

Any ideas?

I did some more research in the Support forums. I solved my problem by turning of my Norton Antivirus Ad Blocker function. As soon as I did that, the rebuilding started without impedment.

The question now is what exactly is in the Ad Blocker that is causing this to hang up, but as it goes, I don't really care so long as I can post

While this problem is probably solved, as the user has not returned for more advice, others may find this thread, so I thought I would tell you what the problem is:

Make sure that javascript is turned on in your browser

Without javascript, the browser simply stalls and never refreshes...

I spent 45 minutes trying to figure out what was wrong with my install before stumbling across the answer...

As far as AdBlocker goes, it may do something to block javascript....

This issue has begun making a regular appearance on the forum now, and the most common culprit is software such as ZoneAlarm, Norton Firewall, or any others similarly aimed at stopping popups. That's now the first thing I ask about when I see a post like this. Haven't had a single person say "no, that's not it" (okay, I had one who took a while to be convinced that it was Norton interfering).

And yes, sometimes (though it's been rare in my experience here), the user just has Javascript turned off in their browser.
