Is there any way that I can create a URL that will automatically rebuild one of my weblogs? I'm using the OtherBlog plug-in with a master index of my weblogs, with recent entries.
Alternatively, I could try to get the sub-weblogs to rebuild an archive that I can push through an SSI include.
Just brainstorming here...any thoughts?
Thanks,
Tim

If you can use cron jobs off your host you can use
mt-rebuild to automatically rebuild pages of your blog at given times

medic,
I did download mt-rebuild, but my *nix knowledge does not extend to setting up cron jobs. Is there some documentation you can point me to for setting this up? In the meanwhile, I'll check the forums for info. Thanks.

Does you host have a Control Panel? If so look at it and you'll probably find aCron area. Using that its pretty simple to build a cronttab. Otherwise you'll have to build a command line script. While its not hard, its too complex to go into there. Just scour Google and you'll find more than enough references.

i've got that part sorted out. i followed your advice and searched google, and pieced together the info I needed. Luckily, I have shell access. But I had to learn how to use VIM (icky stuff). The crontab is set to rebuild every hour now.
Thanks for your help.
The second part of the equation is finding a way to ping weblogs.com in the same manner. I found a couple scripts, but I am hesitant since those pings are likely to hang and I can't afford to impact the server load any more.
Thanks again,
Tim

i tried this script, it looks neat, but it doesnt rebuild my "module" templates? my modules are referred from within my index templates using the MTInclude..
thanks for any ideas!

Template modules are just like including the code in the original template—they're not built separately—so I'd hazard that's not quite what's happening. Could you perhaps tell us where your weblog is and what parts of the pages aren't updating as you think they ought?

sorry, figured it out. i use opera, and opera uses "brute caching". just had to reload to confirm that the rebuilding is indeed working. incredibly useful plugin!!!
