I have 2 questions. first i need to say that i'm new to MT and am just installing it. I don't have .php set up (new to that too) so i can't use it. now. my 1st question is:
is there a way to show how many posts are in each category? and question number 2:
Is there a way to have my categories listed on my main page with the ability to click on a category name and have the posts that are assocciated with it, show beneath the category name .. like the show and hide abbilities for comments and entries??
I hope I was clear!!
Thanks! wink.gif

ok, so buy using my deduction abilities..lol.. I have gotten the code to list the posts under each category and to list how many posts are in the category.. I still would like to do the expand thingy.
Here is a link to my site
A Little Bit Of Lisa
It is on the right hand side listed under categories.
I want the posts that are listed under each category to be "hidden". If the visitor wants to see what the posts are in each category, they can click on the category name and the list of posts will "appear" right under the category name instead of taking you to the category archives page. again, i hope i've written this clearly!

I haven't seen this specific collapse/expand solution yet, but its do-able. So just to confirm...

normally, you'd like the list to look like this:
Category Name (2 posts)
Category Name2 (5 posts)
Category Name3 (4 posts)

And then when you click on the Category Name, it should show the linked titles to all of the entries below it, or just the last 10 or something with a link to the actual category archive page?

Category Name (2 posts)
Entry 1
Entry 2
Entry 3
--Category Name archives (all)
[hide]
Category Name2 (5 posts)
Category Name3 (4 posts)

biggrin.gif YES! I know scriptygoddess has one at her site, but at the moment it still has PHP in it, and I can't use that yet. Although i'm thinking I probably should just to make it easier onmyself lol.. Thanks for any help you can give!

Ahh, I see that Jennifer already has a few versions of this up at ScriptyGoddess: Scripts: Expanding Categories - you'll have to change it around to fit which MT variables you want to show, but its something to get you started smile.gif

Glad that helped! smile.gif

And its nice to have PHP pages, so then when you find a really cool piece of code, you dont' have to make changes then wink.gif tee hee!
