I used the .htaccess trick to force my blog to load up on my main url (http://www.stickandmove.net versus http://www.stickandmove.net/blog). However, my site url under the config is the "/blogs" address.

Now that I'm trying to ping weblogs and blogrolling, it sends the "/blogs" url, which would be fine, except the URL included in other people's blogrolls is the short URL, so my site isn't showing up as "updated" on their rolls.

If I change the site URL in the config settings, I lose my stylesheets.

Is there any way to mod the config file or do something else so I can send the short URL in my pings?

Can you not republish (or move, if you don't have them in MT) your stylesheets to the root web directory? If you didn't do anything with the default stylesheet configuration, it should work if you publish index pages after making the path and URL changes.
