I started a blog about six weeks ago and have just come to movabletype.org tonight. I am impressed by (and desire to have) many of the features of MT.

I am NOT impressed with the look and feel of the default templates. I want my site to maintain its current look. Can I still use MovableType? Simply put, I want to put the entries within a frame. Like this ( http://calebgriffin.net )

Yes, you can create whatever templates you like, just inserting the relevant MT code to display your entries, in or out of a frame. If you want specifics, please give more details (you might also like to search the forum for informaiton about iframes and whatnot).
