Do you use a mailing list on your website to send out announcements to subscribers? I'm looking for a free mailing list program that just stores peoples names, email addresses, etc....
I can use anything in perl, php, or python.

Have you looked at bloglet by chance (If its still around)?
It allows user to subscribe to mailings and daily digests for your site. They manage the lists and userssubscribe/unscubscribe themselves.
All you do it put the form on your site.

I'm looking for something I can install on my own server. You never know how long any *free* service will last.
Thanks for the reply tho!

Bloglet has actually been around for a long time.

I haven't used an external script that I've installed -- my server has mailing lists available on my control panel, but I haven't used one before. You might see if your host has this option.
I googled, and found 148 scripts on
Hotscripts: Perl: Mailing List Managers and 102 on
Hotscripts: PHP: Mailing List Managers. That might be a place to start looking at least.

I've been using
Mojo Mail and have been happy with it. I only have a fairly small mailing list, though.
