Is it possible to prevent users in a group blog from using certain categories, such as a "site news" category that only the admin-type users should be using?

Hmmm, I don't think I've seen a way to do this... Creating a second blog for the announcements would probably be the easiest route, and then either use a plugin or PHP to include them into your main blog...

Or ask the users nicely to not use that category?
