Full Version: Entry Post Bug

This is a bit of a weird error. At times, when I post an entry to movable type and then go to publish it, I will get the message that mt is rebuilding the entry and then it will log me out. I get taken to the main MT log in screen and have to log in again and go to the entry and publish it again for it to be visible on my weblog.

Has anyone else encountered this and is there a fix for it?

This might be a browser issue - make sure your browser is set to accept cookies, at least in this one case.

Does that help?

The same thing happens to me on a regular basis when I post to DykeWrite (MT v2.64). I copy and paste a post from my word processor, select publish, press save, MT starts the post process, and bam... I'm at the login screen. It's SO frustrating.

Yeah, I've checked to be sure cookies are enabled. I've used six different browsers from two different computers on two different networks. I get the same thing. Though, no one else who posts to DW seems to have the problem. That still makes me think it may be a local issue.

For what it's worth, I've found a way to get around it. Save your posts as drafts FIRST. Then publish them. It works for me at least.

Usually, this problem is due to logging in to MT using a different hostname than is specified in your CGIPath setting in mt.cfg. For example, if you log in to "example.com/mt/mt.cgi", and your CGIPath setting points to "www.example.com/mt/mt.cgi", you will have this problem. Because when you log in, your cookie is set for "example.com", but when MT redirects after posting, it will look for a cookie for "www.example.com". The key is to make sure that you always use the same URL when logging in as you have specified in CGIPath.

I'm the host myself using optimumonline who blocks the port 80 due virus protection.

But I found this

So I'm directing my www.mysite.com to mysite.com:8000

and of course i dont want mysite.com:8000 to be seen on the address bar!

what should i do? use it as is??
this problem doesn't log you of by the way when you go back at your browser you can continue your editing.
