I understand from the feature request list, that custom entry field is one of the items on the "to-do" list, and a pro version may be expected in the next 2-3 months. I hope so.

In the meantime, has anyone got any experience in what is necessary to create a custom entry field. I want to add a link to particular areas of my third-party driven discussion board that is related to each story, but I can't enter this information in the body, extended, or excerpt fields as presently available. It needs to be worked in separately, so I can place it inside of a template.

Again -- any suggestions would be most appreciated. I'm also considering just holding off on this feature until the Pro version is released, since I don't want to get involved in something overly complex if the next release is going to address it.

There's the Extra Fields hack for MySQL - and a search of older entries for custom fields generates quite a few results.

I'm rather fond of the Key Values plugin myself.

Thanks for the help. I'm probably too-much of a mt-newbie because I'm having problems fully understanding and implementing the solution based on the documentation provided. Realizing this, and understanding there are other areas to tackle, I can manage a work-around for now while waiting for mt pro to be released.
