When I post an entry, then elect to SEND a notification to my group of readers, no mail gets sent to them, even though I see a message that notification has been sent.
But mail *does* get sent to me (since I checked "Email new comments" in my Preferences). However, it doesn't get sent to me automatically, but only if I elect to push the SEND notification button after doing a post.
The notification list seems to get ignored in all cases.

OK, I mis-construed the "Email new comments" feature.
I was thikning it referred to posts, but of course it must mean just what it says ... COMMENTS (to posts).
Nevertheless, my question remains: Why does the notification list get ignored?
The system behaves as if mine is the only email address (defined in my profile) on the notification list.

The author of the post gets a notification email whenever one is sent. So you don't actually need to add your address to the notification list. To have a notification sent, you must manually hit the 'send notification' button - it doesn't happen automatically.
Are you saying that you have users on your notification list, and that after saving your entry and hitting the 'send notification' button, that no-one but you is getting the emails?
