Hey everyone - I've been working on installing MT for the better part of the day, and it seems to be running really well now, but I'm having trouble with importing my archives from Greymatter.

I imported my archives from Blogger (which I used before GM) with no problem, so I am pretty sure I'm doing it right, but GM won't rebuild my main index file. I think I have corrupted files, because anytime I try to rebuild anything, it just hangs and then times out (this is the reason I decided to switch to MT in the first place).

So my question is - can I import them by hand? I only used GM for about a month, I have about 40 posts, which I think I could do in an hour or two, but I don't want to start all that copying and pasting only to find out it won't work for some reason. I saw in another thread where someone posted the format to use - can I just copy the html of each post from my GM archives into this format in Notepad, and then upload it to the import file like usual? Is there any extra code or anything that I would need to add since I would be generating it by hand?

you might as well copy and paste each of your gm entries into mt. you can change the posting dates after saving the entry.
