Full Version: Blank Pages... They're everywhere

A friend of mine and I both have accounts at the same service provider, Vervehosting. We both are running the same version of MT (Whichever is the latest.) Now, recently Vervehosting sent out a letter saying they couldn't prevent Graymatter from being hacked, so they were banning it. The said nothing about Movable Type being a problem.

But the last two days, both she and I have noticed that sometimes, pages just don't load. It doesn't matter WHERE the page is -- sometimes it's the comments popup box on our actual blogs, sometimes it's in the administrative pages, when you try to reload after having hit "save" on an entry, when you try to go to the mt.cgi file at ALL, or most infuriating, when the "rebuild" popup comes up -- all that we get is a blank white page. Sometimes I can hit "refresh" a couple times, and the page will finally pop up. In the case of the little rebuild popup window, this does not help.

What is the deal with this error? Is this something we should contact our server provider about? Could it be that someone has hacked BOTH of our MT accounts? Or is this a bug that happens with MT when it's trying to run too many blogs? (She and I both have at least five blogs on our respective accounts/applications of MT.)

I don't think it's either a hacker or having too many blogs (I've got 16).

One thing you could try is re-uploading all the files in the tmpl/cms directory in ASCII mode, but given that sometimes "refresh" will cause the page to load, I'm leaning toward something on your server causing this (but it's still worth a try).

The first thing that comes to mind is a limit on CPU resources that might be affecting the performance of MT.

You may also be able to find a clue in the access and/or error logs for your site.
