Hi,

For the past couple of weeks, I've been getting timeout error whenever I publish a new post to my blog. When I look at the activitiy log, it's either a weblogs ping or a trackback ping, or both.

Never had this problem before. Now I get at least one error every time I publish.

Any suggestions?

Yeah, I began having the exact same problem today. Further details:

It first started happening after I had two browser windows open. Each window had an instance of mt.cgi, where I had written two different blog entries (for the same blog). I hit submit on #2 before the #1 entry had finished submitting. #2 blog item gave me the error about failure pinging and #1 blog item just timed out.

Ever since then, actions involving mt.cgi (mostly submitting/saving/pinging) time out.

The weird thing is that I in some cases I'll get entry submitted six or more times. I don't know if this is coming from page reload attempts or what.

this happens to me a lot now, too. i do use more than one window (or in my case, tabs) when writing entries, but sometimes it even times out when i submit only one of them.

I think weblogs.com is having a lot of traffic since it's accepting tons of livejournal pings, persianblog pings, etc, so anything involving weblogs.com pinging is having trouble -- sometimes you just have to post at a time when hardly anybody else is posting.
