I am looking at implementing movable type for a client, and I would like to make the process as simple as possible. Idiot proof. I want them to be able to post a message and edit their entires in the easiest way possible. I know I can create a user for them and restrict their abilities, but even the menu is a bit extensive. I really like the way the bookmarklets work. I know I can use a bookmarklet for the posting, but is their a similar way for them to edit the entries? Is their a plugin avaibale that would help me? Could I customize a main menu so their are fewer options? thanks for your suggestions.

Instead of messing with things in the MT Interface, why not give your client zempt (zempt.com) wbloggar (wbloggar.com). This way the restrictions are built into the local client interface as opposed to changing the MT interface. This way when you do make restrictions, it's transparent to the article publisher.

I can't remember the Mac Client that is popular. The above are windows clients. Zempt and WBloggar both have inherent advantages and disadvantages, so you choose based upon your requirement set.

You can change the CMS interface by editing the files in the "tmpl" directory.

Some people also create a special 'gateway' page for their clients, so they can manage their site from a single page. See for example this screenshot.

He must be working on a way using the XML-RPC script. This would be the most elegant way because you would get full control over the interface.
