Currently I am testing changes in my index template. I copy my current index template into notepad as a backup and then I insert my new template changes in MT and rebuild. If something looks wrong then I reinsert my backup and go back to the drawing board for the new template. Is there a way to restore default or previous template atomatically?

Cheers.

The closest way I can think of is to link the template to a file, and change the filename temporarily (this can get a little hairy though if you're not used to using this feature).

I recommend that you just create a new index template for testing purposes only - you can make the changes there, and when you like the final result, paste the code into your original template and delete the test version.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Actually I'm thinking now to link my Main Index template to an external file and keeping two copies of index.html in my external editor on my computer (one as backup and one as test). So I can make changes to index.html, upload the changes to the external file, which will auto rebuild the index.html (if I understand the "Link template to external file" feature), if I do not like it I can simply upload the back-up index.html. Once I have an acceptable new version I can then update the backup on my computer. I should be able to do this with all templates.

I have a MT Dreamweaver extension now so this should be as easy as pie.
