I seem to be having difficulties changing the password or deleting an additional user I created myself in the MT 2.64 system. The user does not have any rights except for posting.

I created the new user and I forgot the password I entered for it. So I wanted to change it through my own main ("root") account but I can't find the way to do it - either changing the additional user's password nor deleting it completely. I can change my own credentials but there seems to be no place for doing the same about additional user.

Could you help me, please?

As long as the root account that you are using was originally the Melody/Nelson one (you just changed the username and password), you should be able to delete users.

When you get to the Add/Edit Weblog Authors screen, click on "View complete list of authors". Select the checkboxes (on the right) for each author you want to remove and press the delete button.

Another tool that you could use is MT-Medic.

Thank you very much. The deletion possibility in the euthors editing mode just slipped my mind somehow - I just did nor notice it.
But the mt_medic tool is of course the best advice and the tool for solving the problem I had before. It is VERY useful indeed and I thank you for it.
