I can't login and I hit the forget password, typed everything in and I haven't gotten anything in my email yet! This was like 6 hours ago and I did this twice!

yes well I uploaded it and its just a blank...and I'm not good with winzip stuff. I dunno why its taking so long! Should it take that long to get my password? I know that it has the right email...so....

The email should have been really quick, but it depends on your server. Did you have MT working successfully before? Did email notifications work for you in the past?

hmm well I haven't used email notifications in the past. This was my first time doing that.

I clicked on "Forgot password" typed in my sn and my birth of place, and then it said that it would email my password to my email. So its got the right email. I have done this like 6 times by now or more.

And still no notification.

Do you have access through your host to phpMyAdmin or some other web based application that lets you browse your (mySQL I hope) database? If so, you can change the password there.

I bought my domain which is nyc-writer.com, that's where movable type was uploaded from. And its Saturday and I still haven't gotten a notification email.

Movable type is driving me crazy. I was wondering if I could hire someone to upload movable type again or help me recover my password with the MT-Medic thing, since I really don't know much about MT and hosting and other stuff like that.

oscar was asking about the guts of your site behind the scenes - does your webhost offer an interface that allows you to look at the actual mySQL database information? I can login through something called CPanel and use a tool called PHPMyAdmin to actually look at the the records where the MT information is stored.

If you're not sure what options you have, ask your webhost - they should definitely be able to tell you whether or not you have CPanel. If necessary, forward this message to them.

I know it's frustrating, but once you find out about this info we can help you - and you can say you fixed it yourself!

i see mt-medic here:

move mt-medic.cgi into the same directory as your mt.cgi, which is at the root of the cgi-bin.

after mt-medic is moved, you should be able to access mt-medic.cgi here:

http://www.nyc-writer.com/cgi-bin/mt-medic.cgi

also make sure that you set permissions of mt-medic.cgi to 755.
