Is there a way to create category specific individual archive pages?

So I don't have an answer to your question, but I'm working at it (thinking very hard ) and perhaps with a few more tips and tricks....

Can you please describe what you mean by "category specific individual archive pages".

Are you wanting to have a different format for an entry depending on it's category? Is this something that can be done with a category specific stylesheet?

O, and Adam, I think what you want is the supplementalCategories plugin:

For easy addition of next/prev in Category Archives. 1.3 Adds MTIfCategory and MTIfPrimaryCategory tags. 1.4 adds MTEntryAdditionalCategories, which lists all additional (not primary) categories.

Do the suggestions help with what you want to do? Because I'm still not clear on what it is you want to achieve. Can you please be a little more specific about what it is you want to achieve? What do you mean by "filtering"? A hypothetical might help.

Do you mean display different things dependent on catagory? Do you mean only showing certain categories in a listing on an individual page? Do you mean only having individual pages for certain categories?
