Full Version: Default text formatting problem

I upgraded to 2.64 and didn't change any of the templates. Now when I go to post something, MT doesn't put in the line breaks and paragraph breaks. In the preferences, the drop down box for Default Text Formatting is blank (no options available).

I'd like to be able to put in line and paragraph breaks without including the HTML code again, like it did before the upgrade. Any ideas here?

It sounds like one of the older files didn't get overwritten with the newest version.

Unfortunately, I can't remember exactly which file controls this, so you may just want to check the dates on all the copies on your server to see which ones didn't get changed (and, if one didn't get updated, there may be others as well).

(Also, what version of MT did you upgrade from, and what database type are you using?)

I re-uploaded all of the files from the new install package instead of the upgrade package and it seems to work now. Something must not have gotten uploaded on the first go-around. Thanks for the idea smile.gif

I am using Version 2.64 and having the same problem. I just changed servers and do not want to overwrite all the files as I had some serious problems getting MT to work again. Do you know which file exactly is responsible for the line break? Thanks

I have the same problem... and I've posted several times on the issue but I don't get any responses. This must be tricky one to solve.

I guess I'll just try starting over without an upgrade and see if that works.

Ok, so I fixed the problem. Here's what I know.

I had upgraded to 2.64 from the previous version. I'm not sure if there was a missing file or if I made some edit or installed a plugin that messed things up. Either way, I'm pretty sure that the correct file exists in either of the following directories:

exitlib/MT

or

lib/

I just replaced all of the files in the those directories with the files from the newer 2.64 directories.

BE CAREFUL!

I'm not an expert on what all of these files do. Keep track of any files you may have edited and don't replace those. Make a backup at least.

Hope this helps.
