Hi,
A friend mentioned to me about semi-automatic account generation for his "blog-dom". Perhaps a simple sign-up form with a selection of site style templates to choose from, followed (immediately or after approval) by auto-generation of a new account with that style. He might also preset some of the user settings (e.g. "publish" mode by default). It might even dump a few default image files to go with a graphic-rich template. These are just a few things that come to mind as I type.
Now, I understand it's pretty easy to swap stylesheets and tweak templates. But I also know from real-world experience that users either don't have time to learn or don't want to. But mostly it's just to save the site manager time setting up new blogs.
Is this a reasonable way to go? Are tools/hacks available? (I did a quick check in mt-plugins.org and the fora -- nothing obvious has jumped out.)
Thanks.
