I'm sure this question has been asked and answered; I'm finding bits and pieces of what I need all over. But failing to put it together.

I have set up a blog with a growing number of categories. Rather than create a different template for each category, I would like to be able to use a single archive category template and import category-specific material in files or modules - eg category-specific lists of links - based upon which category I am in. I've had a crack at using the approach described in the Per-Category Template tutorial, but at present all the included material shows up on every page without discrimination.

Could someone please point me to where a technique described ... as surely somewhere it is ... preferably in newbie-basic?

You might take a look at the Category Header Footer plugin -- it is a similar idea to the Per-Category Template tutorial, but maybe you'll have more luck with it. smile.gif

And with the Per-Category tutorial, if you are showing up the included material on all pages, you might double check that the plugin (Supplemental Category Plugin, mentioned in the tutorial) is installed and working - if its not, you'd probably see the MTIfCategory ending tags in your view source.

I had not installed the plug-in; I have now, and it is fixed and working as intended. Many thanks. I will now proceed to do something more ambitious and break it again!
