Hey All,

While I've been using MT for some time, this will be my first effort to code an install using some kind of subcategories hack, and I wanted to get some feedback from y'all on what might be the best route to accomplish this before diving head-first.

Here's the lowdown:

Have a site I'm developing that has a Publications section. In that section, there will be 8 different Types of publications listed, and users will be able to go to pages listing all entries for each type.

In addition, users will be able to look for Publications based on Category, with a defined set of 10-20 different categories that will apply across all Publication types.

One way I was thinking of handling this was to use MTOtherBlog, and building blogs for each TYPE of publication, with each blog having the same set of categories. That's a lot of blogs, however.

Would rather have a category/subcategory relationship set up, with the category=type. Am looking to the MTSubCategories plug-in developed by David Raynes for this, but am concerned that I can't map parent categories (the type) to the same subcategories again and again.

Any best ideas?

The site will have a main Publications page, listing the current entries for each TYPE; category pages listing entries from each TYPE that fall under those categories,; and then also pages for each TYPE of publication, listing all current entries that fall under those types.

Hope this isn't confusing at all and thanks in advance for any and all feedback and support.

Cheers,

Anthony
