Hi, I set up my blog a long time ago and it worked fine. Untill today. Mt does not recognise my username anymore. I dit not change this so what is wrong? When I try to recover the password it says that the username is not known.
I tried to install mt-medic, in my cgi-bin, where also the mt-cgi is, chmod it to 755 but my browser cannot find it.
So, also this does not help me.
Anyone a good suggestion?

Is it possible that your host could have made some changes to your server? I would ask them; it could tell you whether I changed hosts and now I can't log in to MovableType. would apply.

Well, things seems to get stranger every time, as I tried to use mt.medic.cgi, but although I uploaded it, changemodt etc, i keep getting a404 message.
Also, very strange is that my images folders suddenly is empty! This happened the day after I uploaded my last message in it, so it was not me.

Also the listauth script cannot be found and gives a 404 message.

My provider said he did not change anything, but, is planning a change in servers. In the preparations to this, could something maybe have happened?

I get in now, thanks to your link. Why did it not work when I typed it myself? I used the same link...

But, mt-medic shows me no author, so that is weird. I creat a new author but then get this message:
Invalid author id '0' at mt-medic.cgi line 746.

What does it mean???

I have a recent backup. I can see an author.db file and such.
What program I use to open this?

hello, is there some one who could help me?
I am busy the all day to get my blog working, but nothings seems to help. before I make the decission to completely upload my blog again I would like to know if I can do something to get it working again. As medic.cgi tells me I cannot change or add an author and does not give a blog present I really am puzzled here.

It sounds to me like your host has made changes to your server affecting the version of DB_File.pm - this can make the database files unreadable by MT.

Troubleshooting Manual - I changed hosts and now I can't login to Movable Type.

Even though you didn't actually change hosts, the theory is the same.

My provider keeps telling me that he has not made any changes to the server that he knows of.
he has asked for the log file and a backup from the server from sept. 27 ( when everything was working fine) and hopes to find out more.
meanwhile I am sad. Yesterday evening I discovered that also half of my db files had gone! From the backup I had made a day earlier I can see that really half of it is missing now!
Well, I will wait for my provider to give me an answer. I really hope he can help me.

Did you exceed your space quota? If not, you might ask the host if the server itself hit a space limit.

I did not exceed my space, but maybe the server has, as my host told me he has planned to move everything to more heavy servers..

Well, The server has lots of space left, so that cannot be the problem. Also my own site has enough space left, and my host has not moved my website or made changes to the server.
So, what can I do now?

I tried resetauth but this gave me a blank page..

As many of my DB files have gone into cyberspace my host cannot use the troubleshooter as mentioned in a previous message.

Would it be an idea to run Mt-check? or is this not a good idea?
I wish my blog was running again...

You can certaily run mt-check.cgi - do not attempt to run mt-load.cgi. Mt-check will show the details of your installation and confirm that you have all required modules installed. Mt-load.cgi initializes a new installation for first-time use.

I hate to say this, but it might be worth reinstalling MT and starting over

Ok, So if I reinstall Mt, would it mean I have to delete everything from te server and start it complete over again?
Would I still be able to show my 52 messages with comments there were in my present blog?

I would not mind starting over again, as It has not been running for too long, but I would be sad if it means that I will loose all my old mesages and that they cannot be vieuwed anymore..

just to let you'll know:
My host just told me that the server was hacked
Also the back-up files have been damaged so they do not know yet if they have a back-up for my blog..
If the hacker is reading this: thanks for ruining peoples work. what is the fun in This?

I will get back to this forum when I know more, but probably in another topic ( as in how to set-up a new blog and hoping to include the old messages)

My last question here is: My blog is still working but I cannot log in. is there a chanche to upload the same blog and to make a new Db. Would that enable me to log in again and still keeping everything?
