i get the above error whenever i try to access a blog from the menu interface. i want to deinstall and reinstall mt. is this possible? nothing seems to work!

If you do a search on "scalar' you'll find a lot of information about this - from what I understand it is a corrupt database - usually dealing with berkeley database.
you should do an immediate export of all your posts and templates if it will let you; from there I'm not sure, but the search should give you ways to handle it.
