I installed MT 2.6 under WIn2K/IIS 5.0/MySQL. Everything seems to be working fine, except add a comment to a posting. There is no visible link to add one.
The blog shows number of entries and comments, but add featuer is missing!
Help much appreciated !

Could we please see a link to your blog?

I wish you could; however, it is within an INTRAnet site. I can tell you this much -
I haven't modified anything. The GUI is MT WYSIWYG. After running mt-load.cgi. I logged in with the Melody account and all appears well. I can read, post, MT It!, etc. Is posting a comment accomplished through adding a new template or code?

No, there should be a link at the bottom of each post for comments. The link only shows if comments are enabled.
I forget if this is done by default. Take a look at the entry edit screen and make sure that comments are set to open. This option can be set as the default via Weblog Config | Preferences.
Does that help?

Did that and it still doesn't help. Is this a bug in MT 2.64?

Did you rebuild after making the changes? They will not take effect until the blog is rebuilt.
No, it is not a bug. There are many people using 2.64 and comments successfully, including myself.

I did rebuild again just to make sure. When I click on an entry, it goes to an edit screen and displays all of the related data in the boxes. At the bottom is Advanced Options - Edit Comments, Manage TrackBack Pings and Send a Notification. That is all I get on the page.

In order to add comments, you need to be viewing your blog. Comments are not added from within MT, but rather from the pages it generates. This is where you will see the link for comments.
For example:
http://www.example.com/mt/mt.cgi : admin interface
http://www.example.com/blog/ : page it generates
Does that help?

You going to have to excuse me on this one. First of all, I am a newbie to blogging. I thought MT was the user's GUI, It's not!
Does the admin create html pages for me, which I can then redesign to fit my needs?
Does the blog become a complete HTML site ?
I have found pages (eg index.html,comments.html,archives.html) in the blog folder. I really need your help understanding how this works, if you have the time, or course.
Thanks very much!

Yes, MT will generate an HTML site. The index.html page is the main page and lists the last 7 days worth of entries. By default, it contains links to most everything you need.
What else do you need to know about how MT works?

Let me thank you for removing the cloud over my head.
Just one other question
What types of users do you give MT.CGI access?

Ones you trust, and want to post content, edit templates, and so on.

You can give different users varying levels of permissions, though.
