I'm toying with pMachine right now for a course website, but I prefer to use MT because I'm more familiar with the product. One of the things I really like about pMachine is the ability to display a user's comments, and I'd like to mimic that in MT.

My students would not be registered users of MT because requiring freshman writers to log in would actually be more confusing that simply adding a comment. Despite this, I'd still like to be able to print or display a profile page for each commenter so I have documentation of their participation.

For example, if I have ten students, I'd like to be able to click on each student's name to pull the comments from the database associated with that particular email address:

QUOTE
Comments by Jane Doe

"post title 1" - mm.dd.yy of comment
blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah

"post title 2" - mm.dd.yy of comment
blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah

"post title 3" - mm.dd.yy of comment
blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah

I've got the CommentLeaders plug-in so I know I can display the *latest* comment from the top posters, but I'm not sure if I can modify it or use any other coding strategy to get the effect I'm looking for.

Suggestions or am I merely dreaming? smile.gif

This is the default code suggested with commentleaderrs

CODE
<MTCommentLeaders lastn="5">
<$MTLeaderAuthorLink$> (<$MTLeaderCount$>) <br />
latest:
<small><$MTLeaderEntryDate format="%m/%d/%y %X"$></small>
<br />
on <a href="<$MTBlogArchiveURL$><$MTLeaderEntryLink$>
#<$MTLeaderCommentID$>" target="_blank">
<$MTLeaderEntryTitle$></a> <br /><br />
</MTCommentLeaders>

If you change that lastn to whatever number of students you have (or something insanely high, like 999) you should be able to see all of your student names, with their number of comments and the latest comment

I'm sure you can list all of the comments they've made as I've seen this, but I'm not sure how to do it...

See if these help:

Show All Comments for Comment Author

Link to View All Comments for Comment Author

(I'm assuming you have PHP/MySQL with MT, since you're toying with PMachine. )

Thanks for the inspiration. wink.gif

P.S. Right now the code lists the comments in descending order; if you want ascending instead, change DESC to ASC in the query.
