Just installed MT on a Linux system with Perl 5.6

I installed the bulk of the .cgi files in my public_html/cgi-bin directory
The static files are in public_html/mt-static
(images/, docs/, styles.css)

mt.cfg has StaticWebPath /mt-static/
(I've also tried ../mt-static/)

Most of the functionality is there. BUT, I don't see the text
formatting buttons like Bold, URL, etc.

I'm fairly sure I've followed the directions but don't understand why the text formatting buttons don't appear.

What's more, the keyboard equivalents ctrl-shift-b, etc. don't seem to work, either.

I use Mozilla Firebird as my browser.

Suggestions appreciated.

I only see those buttons when I use IE. They don't show up for me in Mozilla or Mozilla Firebird.

There's a chunk of javascript that controls the display of these buttons. It checks the document.selection object, and if it exists, displays the buttons.

document.selection isn't an object I'm familiar with, and it isn't mentioned in my java script: The Definitive Guide (2nd ed...old, yes). From what I've been able to gather, it's an IE only thing.

This Bugzilla report might prove more enlightening.

Ouch!

Thank you for this clarification. I tried it on IE and it works. I hope that the functionality will become available for other browsers, as well. I've gotten used to Mozilla Firebird's nice features.

I also just became a HUGE Mozilla Firebird fan, and have the same problem, which so far is the ONLY gripe I have. What a bummer.
