I have set up my wife as an author on two blogs, with all permissions checked. On one blog, she can assign a category to an entry via a dropdown menu, but in the other the dropdown menu is not there. Same browser, same session. I added a new test user to the same blog, and the dropdown appears as usual. Thought it was a Mac/browser issue like the formatting buttons, but same behaviour on PC IE. When I log in as her, on the PC, no category dropdown. As other authors, it's there again.

Can I safely delete her original author name and re-add it? Or can I somehow get the dropdown to appear? Thanks in advance.

Hmmm. The Edit Categories permission box for that blog is definitely checked? huh.gif

Yes, definitely. And in fact she can edit categories, she just can't assign a category to her post.

The reason I asked was because I was assuming since the dropdown box has an option to Add new category, that those permissions might affect the display of the dropdown. However, it looks like only the Add option won't display if they don't have Edit Permissions.

At any rate, if you click on the link to Customize the display of this page on the Edit Entry screen, is she using the Advanced or Custom option, and if the latter, is the Category box checked?

biggrin.gif Thanks a million, that did it! She was on "Custom" but "Category" was unchecked. Switched to "Advanced" and we're in business. Thanks again.
