Late tonight, for no apparent reason, I suddenly encountered this error message when attempting to log into MT:
CODE
Got an error: Unsupported driver MT::ObjectDriver::DBI::mysql: Can't locate DBI.pm in @INC (@INC contains: ./extlib ./lib /usr/lib/perl5/5.6.1/i386-linux /usr/lib/perl5/5.6.1 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.1/i386-linux /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.1 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.0 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.6.1/i386-linux /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.6.1 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl .) at lib/MT/ObjectDriver/DBI.pm line 9. Did some file get corrupted, or did my host change something on the server without my knowledge?

Well I know where the problem is. I just ran MT-Check for fun and this is what it spit out:
CODE
DBD::mysql...
Your server does not have DBD::mysql installed. DBI and
DBD::mysql are required if you want to use the MySQL database
backend. Please consult the installation instructions for help
in installing DBD::mysql.
That's impossible. I've been running on MySQL from the beginning. My host must have changed something that broke my config.

I would say that your host has made a change. Check with them. There seems to be a lot of this about tonight.

What's the solution?
:Huh
maddy
Nov 13 2003, 11:41 PM
The solution is to contact your host and make sure that DBD::mysql and DBI.pm are still correctly installed on your server.

I use Liquidweb and I'm getting exactly the same error. I actually noticed last night that the script was having problems hanging onto my authentication for some reason. Then, when I tried to log in this morning, the whole thing was kaput. I have a support request in, will follow up when I hear back.

I have exactly the same on VenturesOnline.com.
This obviously affects anyone with Cpanel - and thats a lot of us!

what is funny to me, is it seems that my host's email is running through spam assassin or something and that's being affected as well. so i'm not even sure if my messages to my host are getting through to support.
great way to start the day!

It's not a host issue, since my host is not your host and not his or hers, either. Or at least there's enough discrepancies to show that it's more than that.
Someone else said their host is in contact with CPanel, who upgraded their stuff. So it's pretty much in CPanel's hands, and there's not much we can do except either wait it out, or manually update with FTP to transcribe later into MT when it's back up and running.
On my site, I put a notice that there are technical issues with MT that need to be resolved.
Good luck serving patience.

I blame the Australians. I was about to put up a witty repost about how the Wannabies will undoubtably loose to New Zealand tommorow (World Cup Rugby for you heathens) which is a pity as I really need to see them lose to England again.
(Sorry did I spell Wallabies wrong. Oh woops.)

Nov 14 2003, 06:42 AM
It's definitely a cPanel issue since this effects every host across the board. I wonder how long this "outage" will go on. It first occurred late last night. It's now almost 10:00AM (EST) and still nothing.
Foo Fighter
Nov 14 2003, 06:53 AM
Has anyone gotten a response from their host yet? I submitted a request for information from Tech support last night, at the time of this incident, and still haven't received a response. I am floating in the vacuum of space. Alone...in the black silence.

My MT is up and running once again, so whatever issues my host had with Cpanel are resolved. I'm assuming that everyone else will follow sometime soon, so no worries!

I didn't do anything at all; I was going to post a question on the insiderhosting forums (insiderhosting is taking care of hostradius for now) but before I did I decided to check out my MT, and it was up and running. I have no idea what they did, but I do wish they'd address it in their forums! Perhaps they will a little later on today.

From my host Venturesonline.com
"Cpanel latest update, has installed a new version of perl, but not all the modules that are needed were updated. We've been having to go through all of our cpanel installs and manually update the perl modules."

No, I am with Page-Zone. But which host you use is irrelevant. The problem effects EVERY host which runs cPanel.

From my host (ANhosting):
"We have reinstalled the DBI and DBD::mysql perl modules on your server. Are you still getting errors on any other pages? If yes please send us the location of these page or the name of the perl modules."
It fixed the problem. Woo!

Exact same problem. I'm hosted by Affordablehost, and they use cPanel as well. But, concurrently, I had some weird posts to my comments right before this happened. Just a little too curious:
weird comments at bottomPlus, they all happened within a minute, and each came from a different IP.
A little too coincidental, I think. Haven't found anything weird on my server yet, tho.

I'm with NZWebit and still waiting for them to actually believe what I am telling them. I've pointed them to this support forum and the Cpanel forum detailing the problems and they still say "please check your html files and permissions, no changes have been made to our servers".
How annoying.

It's simple, show them the MT check file
http://www.yourdomain.com/mt_path/mt-check.cgibefore the support:
CODE
