Full Version: How to configure SQL access?

Hallo there

I previously ran my installation on SQLite, and would now like to use a SQL database instead, for speed and stuff.

I'm having some problems starting though, since I'm know pitifully little about SQL.

My host has PHPmyAdmin installed, and when I try to add a database (as the installation instructions dictates), it prompts me for "Name" and "Fields" (number of). That's my first question - how many fields does MT need?

So I put down 1, thinking that MT would automatically resize the database later, only to get stumped with yet more prompts.

The interface now prompts me for "Field" (name), "Type", "Length/Values", "Attributes", "Table comments"...

Please guide me along with these things.

Thank you very much for your help!

For what it's worth, I'm on MediaTemple servers.

All you are supposed to do is create an empty database. The mt-load.cgi script creates everything it needs within the empty database.

The prompts you are getting sound like steps for adding a *table* within an already existing database. You don't need to add any tables - mt-load.cgi creates all the tables it needs.

Thanks! That was it - I confused tables with databases. ohmy.gif
