i want to be able to blog, and then on certain pages, pull the entries out by category. is it possible to do this?

i've tried cutting and pasting some code into my php pages but it just displays what i've put in there so im wondering if im missing something or if this is even possible.

i'd like to have on main blog and be able to display the different categories on different pages thru out my site

Any pages that have MT tags on them need to be processed by the system to have that information displayed - you can make your non-blog page a template or module in MT and point the output file to your preferred destination - that should allow you to display the information you want to sow.

kinda figured i'd have to do that.

have thought about outputting just the content to a file somewhere and then using the file as an include to display the content.

That would work just fine...
