Hey all,
I have, as a lot of people do, a list of categories with their post count next to them.
What I would like to do is setup another link that says "uncategorized (#)". Is this possible?
Short of adding an Uncategorized category and moving uncategorized posts there, that is?
Thanks =)

Was there ever an answer to this? I just ran into this today myself.

Nope, I just ended up making a new category and using that for 'uncategorized' posts.. called it stream of consciousness =)

My reasoning, was that I wanted to find the POSTS that weren't categorized...

(this message is corrected, it incorrectly said categories previously)

You mean posts that weren't categorized?
You can see this easily in 'power-editing' mode, all the ones that say 'none'. That's how i re-categorized my 'none' ones to 'stream of consciousness'.
If not please clarify.. =)

Yes. But I want the computer to do it; that's why I'm using movable type and not doing it manually

I also want other people to easily see the posts not categorized and not have to have them use powerediting, when I probably will give them a different type of client to use anyways....

I wanted it for similar reasons but on the published end, not the editing end...
Anyway, I found no way to do it and noone has come forth with a method. As far as I can tell (and I've had some help investigating) there is no way to report on a null in that area.
so, the options are to suffer... or to categorize them into something.
In case you ask, there is no way to set a default category short of hacking the .cgi's (I chose not to), so ... well, there it is.
Good luck Gary.. if you find a way, let me know. =)
