When I first set up MT v2.65 I didn't opt to use a database. I had no idea what it was.

Now that I'm have 200 entries and over 100 comments I'm finding that most things I want to do (ie move comments) warrant me using MySql.

I'm much more comfortable working with it.

How can I move my existing entries to a MySQL db format? I found instructions to do it using upgrading, but since I'm already using the current version I'm unsure if they would apply to my situation.

thanx in advance!
nay!

Yes, you can convert your current db to MySQL. You will utilize the mt-db2sql.cgi script to do this. Here are instructions.

Thanks for the fast response ndns, now bear with me, at times I am a dim bulb.

I am not using an existing database w/movable type. I didn't choose that option when I set it up. (i skipped those instructions completely).

With that being the case:

1) is this still something I can do now (using MySQL)?

2) for my situation is using the mt-db2sql.cgi still the way to go?

you are using a database even though you're not aware of it. the default db for mt is berkeley if you didn't configure for any other db.
